THE INGRAM BUILDING
Take a look at this fabulous building on famous 5th Avenue. The history of the building is intriguing.
From 1950 to 1970 the six-block-long 5th Avenue served as Naples Main Street with a grocery store, a bank, a pharmacy, a gas station, restaurants, and a hardware store owned by Mr. Ingram. When the hardware store was torn down, a new building touting the Ingram name was built in its place. The Ingram Building now boasts retail on the street level, offices on the second floor and the Inn-residences on the third floor. The Mizner style Ingram Building with its barrel tile roof, antebellum brick balconies, brick paved halls and entries, and finely crafted solid mahogany doors stands tall and proud on 5th Avenue right in the heart of what has become the most famous street in Naples.
The owner of the Ingram Building, and grandson of Mr. Ingram, Dan Ruhl, is much like Addison Mizner. When designing the Ingram Building, he took a holistic view. He considered not only the environment, but also the interior design in the way of furnishings - and he also considered the basic building materials. The very unique building consists of solid mahogany doors throughout the Inn-residences, the offices and retail space. The floors are Brazilian Cherry. An extraordinary artisan, Mr. Ruhl’s design can be seen in the work of the Ingram Building, throughout town in bars and restaurants, and in the homes of the rich and famous in Naples. From beautiful wood floors, trim and millwork, to the finest of custom furniture, Mr. Ruhl’s work is outstanding. The furniture is built from the finest materials with impeccable craftsmanship. Everything is built by hand in Fort Myers, Florida. Each piece is crafted with unswerving attention to details – the joinery, the inlays, and the finish.
The Ingram Building is located in the heart of downtown Olde Naples. This location makes the building very desirable for residents who want to live in the heart of downtown, business persons who want an office that is convenient and in an upscale area, and restaurateurs and retailers who want the gift of customers.
